These clinics assist low-income individuals who have a tax dispute with the IRS. LITCs can represent taxpayers before the IRS or in court on audits, appeals, tax collection matters, and other tax disputes. Services are provided for free or for a minimal fee. Coloradans have two LITCs to choose from: Colorado Legal Services or University of Denver Graduate Tax Program.
An independent organization within the IRS, Taxpayer Advocate Service, helps protect your rights as a taxpayer and helps with tax problems you can’t resolve on your own.
- ITINs with middle digits of 70-88. Example: 9XX-79-XXXX
- All ITINs not used on a federal tax return at least once for tax years 2022, 2021 and 2020.
- ITINs with middle digits of 90, 91, 92, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, or 99 if assigned before 2013 have expired. Taxpayers with these ITINs can still renew at any time, if they have not renewed already.
